Welcome to Tim Walford Racing
Tim was brought up near Stockton on Tees, where his father was an accountant. He was educated at Rugby and the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester.
On finishing college he went to work for the late Robin Simpson, after that he joined Bill Watts as assistant trainer and then moved to be assistant to Michael Easterby at Sheriff Hutton. He trained point to pointers with Gerry Kelly and started riding winners in point to points and under rules, including many winners on the flat and jumping for David Chapman.
Tim and Gillian met when they both were at M W Easterby's, married in 1976 and moved to Cornborough Manor, the Jack's family farm. There were only four stables at that time but farm buildings were converted to stables over the years and there are now 40 boxes.
Tim and Gillian have two sons who are both also working within the racing industry. Robert who has recently given up riding as a professional jockey in order to set up as a trainer in Dorset where he lives with his fiancee Louise Alner and their 2 year old daughter Beth. Mark is Assistant at Cornborough and lives in Sheriff Hutton with his wife Molly and their 1 year old daughter Anna. So as you see we have a family feel to the yard with Mark riding the pointers and top weights under rules, Tim and Gillian both involved in the day to day running of the yard and Molly has begun to help out in the office.
